Her parents, Tom and Joan Bourke, parishioners of St. Ed-ward Parish, Herminie, were one of nearly 90 couples who attended the Oct. 12 celebration at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. “They adopted all four of us kids,” Maureen said. “They are pretty amazing people. Plus we put them through a lot. I think it was definitely their faith that got them through it. They are really dedicated to each other. That’s what honors God: that they’re honoring the commitment they made to God and one another.” Bishop Lawrence E. Brandt, celebrant and homilist, extended congratulations to all couples in the diocese who celebrated their 50th anniversary this year. The diocesan choir provided a musical backdrop that paralleled the powerful emotions felt by some in attendance. Mount St. Peter Parish pa-rishioner Patricia Pecoraro said she cried throughout most of the Mass. “Tears of joy,” said her hus-band, George, as the rationale for her emotion.
